How do the Detective-Trails work?
This is how the treasure hunt works
Start and Process
In short, the Detective-Trails are a treasure hunt with Detective Badger.
Go to the starting point of the Detective-Trail indicated on the Detective-Trail map (print version or web app). After purchasing, you can decide whether you want to play the Detective-Trail using the printed version or the web app.
Riddles and Directions
At the starting point, the first riddle is already waiting for you. Like on a scavenger hunt, the directions guide you from one riddle to the next. You can solve the riddles using the clues you find on site – nothing has been specially installed. Along the way, you will also learn many interesting and useful facts about the place where you complete the Detective-Trail.
Finish and Gift
At the end, by cracking the code, you will find out whether you are a master detective.
With the code, you can then open the lock of a treasure chest (small gift in the treasure chest / 1 gift per paying person), order your gift by email (small gift sent by post / 1 gift per paying person), or download your digital gift.
You receive the four-digit code from the solutions to around 12 to 16 riddles.
The Detective-Trail options
With treasure chest
With this Detective-Trail option, a treasure chest awaits you at the end. You need the four-digit code to open the treasure chest and take your gift from it.
With Postal Delivery
With this Detective-Trail option, a small gift will be sent to you by post.
You need the four-digit code to request your gift by email.
Print or Onlineversion (Web-App)
After purchasing, decide whether you want to play with the print version or in the web app.
For certain trails, you can purchase the Detective-Trail printversion (usually only available as a print version) at a local sales point. If a local sales point is available, this will be indicated on the product overview of the respective Detective-Trail.
Print Version Detective-Trails (Printed Map)
Using a printed Detective-Trail map – a printer is required – you can set off on your adventure, note all the solutions, and calculate and crack the code at the end.

Onlineversion (Web-App) Detective-Trails
Start the Detective-Trail anytime and spontaneously without any paper. All you need is a smartphone with internet access and enough battery. You don’t need to take notes when playing with the web app.

Further Information
Do I need to register in advance?
You can spontaneously decide at any time when you want to do the treasure hunt with Detective Badger.
Difficulty Level
The Detective-Trails are designed for both children and adults. With some support, the trails can be solved from around age 6; on their own, the questions can usually be solved from about 12 to 14 years old.
The difficulty level (easy, medium, hard) varies from trail to trail and is indicated in the product overview.
The Detective-Trails are ideal for families, grandparents, schools, clubs, and companies.
Detective-Trail with a Group
If you want to do the trail with a larger group, we recommend dividing the participants into smaller groups of around 5 people and starting them in staggered intervals (approx. 5–10 minutes).
Simply purchase the desired Detective-Trail in the Web Shop for the total number of people who will be taking part. After purchasing, you can download the print version and print as many copies as needed for your participants.
If you want to play online, the Detective-Trail team must activate additional access codes for you. You will find the exact instructions after your purchase when you open the game in your account. Please note that activating additional access codes takes 3–5 working days.
Important: Please remember to bring the order confirmation that you receive by email on the day you do the trail. Make sure that all groups can show the order confirmation (printed or digital) at the end point. Spot checks may be carried out at the finish to verify that all participants have paid the participation fee.
